Glass and Glazing

We can supply the glass with your windows and doors. All our glass is either supply only or factory fitted. We do not fit glass on site.

Your joinery can be manufactured to take single, double and triple glazing depending on your requirements or regulations. Double glazing has improved over recent years which now includes low e soft coat glass, Low Iron and slimlite double glazing for applications where glazing rebates are too small for standard double glazing. Gases including Argon and Krypton gases are added to increase the thermal efficiency of the units.

All glazing rebates and beads must be painted before glazing. This includes the ends which are normally sealed with end grain sealer before painting. Use glazing packers to centralise the glass in the opening. When fixing glazing beads use a waterproof sealant on all mitres and end joints. Fill all pin holes and repaint. Following this method will stop the ingress of water into the joints and prevent any issues with paint and glass.

When using silicone make sure it is compatible with double glazing units. We recommend Silfix U9. Failure to do this will result in damage to the unit and loss of glass guarantee. Glass failure is noticeable by black runs inside the units.

When glazing 12mm slimlite double glazed units please check manufacturers recommended glazing guidelines.

All glazing to be in accordance with GGF requirements.
